Our Mission
The Phoenix Food & Drug Group is an association of people over 55 years of age who are working or have retired from various segments of the Food and Drug industry.
The primary goal and purpose of the association is to continue involvement, participation and fellowship among our members through a wide variety of annual events as directed by the membership and Board of Directors from time to time.
Club Info
The Phoenix Food & Drug Group (PFDG) is a British Columbia Food & Drug Association.
The origins of PFDG date back to the early 1990’s. A group of food industry executives (the who’s who of that era) got together to create a club which would provide an opportunity for those retiring from the industry to meet and continue the social aspect of what they had experienced for many years in their business lives.
In the late 1990’s, the club hosted the well-known Astra Awards which honored a retailer and supplier each year. The event was very popular with over 1,300 attendees at times.
PFDG has continued the long-standing tradition of mutual fellowship but has had to adapt to an ever changing industry. Today we are all about fellowship. The club was created on that premise and the directors are committed to that ideal.
PFDG is managed by an executive that includes up to 19 directors and officers & hosts up to seven events each year. Directors continually look to find additional events for member enjoyment.
One of the past highlight events was the annual Brunch and Silent Auction which was generally held at Newlands G&CC in October or November each year. The event raised funds which the club donated to BC Children’s Hospital Foundation along with Bursaries for post secondary education to grandchildren of members. As of 2023, over $500,000 has been awarded and donated since the club was formed. Strong support to the annual Brunch was provided by Save-On-Foods, Georgia-Main Food Group, Buy-Low Foods and London Drugs.
